1-4 1st woman and 2nd man turn by the right hand three-quarters round, let go and circle the fourth quarter outside the other two. Meanwhile 1st man casts off and 2nd woman casts up and, having circled a quarter of the way round, they turn each other by the left hand three-quarters round back to places, where they face outwards, and

5-8 The movement is repeated.

9-12 1st couple lead down, taking near hands, and cast up to places, while 2nd couple cast up and, taking near hands, lead down to places.

13-16 1st couple set and cast off one place (2nd move up on 15-16).

17-18 1st couple turn by the right hand three-quarters round, while 2nd and 3rd couples dance a quarter round them counter-clockwise so that 2nd are on the men's side and 3rd on the women's side (see figure 1).

19-20 2nd and 3rd couples dance left hands across half round, while 1st couple dance a quarter round them clockwise to 2nd place, own sides (see figure 2).

21-24 1st couple repeat bars 17-20, while 2nd and 3rd dance another quarter round them counter-clockwise until the men and women are on their own sides (21-22) and then dance left hands across half round to opposite sides (23-24), 3rd couple ending in top place and 2nd in 3rd place.

25-26 Taking hands at the sides, 1st man and 2nd woman set to 1st woman and 2nd man.

27-28 1st and 2nd women change places, giving right hands.

29-30 Taking partners' hands at the sides, 1st and 2nd couples set.

31-32 1st couple each cast off one place, while 2nd each cast up one. At the same time, 3rd man crosses to 2nd place, own side, and 4th man to 3rd place opposite side.

33-34 The four men dance right hands across half round, while the four women dance round them counter-clockwise (see figure 3).

35-36 Passing their partners right shoulder, the four women dance left hands across half round, while the men dance round them clockwise (figure 4 shows positions at the end of bar 36).

37-40 All turn partners with both hands to their positions at the end of bar 32 (shown in figure 3)

41-44 1st man and 4th woman turn by the right hand once round, while 1st woman and 4th man dance round them counter-clockwise to change places. At the same time 2nd woman and 3rd man turn by the right hand once round, while 2nd man and 3rd woman dance round them counter-clockwise to change places.

45-48 1st couple set and cast off (4th move up on 47-48)
