Fortnight at St. Andrews

32 bar Strathspey.

This dance was devised in honour of the Summer School at St. Andrews where new vigor and enthusiasm are rekindled each year because of the dedicated people who make it possible.

1-4 1st and 2nd couples set and dance right hands across half round.

5-8 1st and 3rd couples set and dance left hands across half round.

9-12 1st couple, giving right hands in passing, cross over and cast up one place (3rd couple move down on 11-12).

13-14 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance the first figure of Petronella (omitting the setting step).

15-16 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples continue the Petronella turn, 2nd and 3rd couples finishing on their own sides of the dance, while 1st couple, as they complete the Petronella turn, move towards each other and finish back to back in 2nd place.

17-20 In Double Triangles formation, 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance two Highland Schottische steps, one to the top of the set and one back.

21-24 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance half reels of three on their own sides. 1st woman cuts the reel by giving left shoulder to 2nd woman, while 1st man gives left shoulder to 3rd man. 1st couple finish back to back facing opposite sides.

25-28 Repeat the setting steps in Double Triangles formation.

29-32 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance half reels of three again. 1st woman cuts the reel by giving left shoulder to 2nd man, while 1st man gives left shoulder to 3rd woman. 1st couple finish in 2nd places, own sides.

Repeat, having passed a couple.
