48 bar Strathspey

1-8 1st couple dance round each other back to back and turn with both hands once round to own sides, where they face outwards.

9-12 1st couple cast off one place, cross over to below 3rd couple and cast off to below 4th couple.
2nd couple dance round each other back to back.

13-16 1st couple dance round each other back to back.
2nd couple turn with both hands to own sides, where they face inwards. 3rd couple dance round each other back to back.

17-20 1st couple, giving right hands, cross back to own sides and cast up. 2nd couple turn by the right hand once round.
3rd couple turn with both hands to own sides.
4th couple dance round each other back to back.

21-24 1st and 2nd men - and women - turn with both hands to original places (21-22), while 3rd couple wait in their places. Then, 1st, 2nd and 3rd men - and women - take hands at the sides and advance until they are just passing their partners right shoulder (23-24).
4th couple turn with both hands once and a quarter.

All the dancers are now in one line, facing opposite sides.

25-26 All advance (one step) and retire (one step), moving to their right past one person.

27-28 All retire and advance, moving to their right past another person, except that 1st woman and 4th man retire, advance and turn right about to face own sides.

29-30 All advance and retire, moving to their right past another person.

31-32 All dance as in 27-28, but this time 2nd woman and 3rd man retire, advance and turn right about.

33-36 All dance four steps of a reel of eight, beginning by passing right shoulder with the person on their right.

37-40 All turn partners with both hands; ending on own sides, 1st couple on the sidelines and the other six forming a circle.

41-48 1st couple dance round each other back to back and turn with both hands to own sides.
2nd, 3rd and 4th couples dance six hands half round (41-42), then back to back with partners (43-46) and turn with both hands half round to own sides (47-48).

Repeat with new top couple.
