1-4 First couple dance four bars of Petronella while second couple step up then set on bars 3-4.

5-8 First and second couples dance four hands across once round. First couple curve round on bar 8 to finish, first man facing second woman, first woman facing second man, ready to dance a reel of four. Figure 1.

Figures 1-3 Shetland Fiddler

9-16 First and second couples reel of four across the set. At the end first couple pass by the right shoulder to finish facing opposite sides. Figure 2.

17-18 First man turns third woman by the right hand while first woman turns third man by the left hand. First couple finish in third place on opposite sides while third couple finish up one place having made a polite turn.

19-20 First couple dance round each other passing left shoulder to finish facing opposite sides.

21-22 First man turns fourth woman by the right hand while first woman turns fourth man by the left hand. First couple finish at the bottom on opposite sides while fourth couple finish up one place having made a polite turn.

23-24 First couple cross to own sides giving the right hand and finish facing out.

25-32 Fourth and first couples dance a double figure of eight across the set. Figure 3. (The dancer dancing across and down from the women's side has precedence i.e. 4th woman, 1st woman, 4th man then 1st man).

Repeat with a new top couple.
